About Kristin Savko Photography & Design
Photographer, Designer, eLearning Developer, Creative.
Lancaster, Pennsylvania
I've always loved the arts and anything that could reflect or absorb my creative energy. Over the years, I've photographed a number of portraits and weddings as Kristin Savko Photography, working primarily in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas. As you can see, I almost always have a smile on my face when I'm photographing--I just love it!
Photographing for clients is something I do because it's something that I enjoy. Although I certainly embrace posed shots, my style borders more on photo-journalistic. There's something magical about peeking through my lens and capturing a moment. It's even better when my subjects don't know that I'm photographing...or when they can forget that I'm even there. Weddings are an amazing opportunity to act like a bit of a paparazzi for awhile-- to capture joy and emotion on the purest level. Over the years, I've been privileged to know and work with some amazing people and families because of my photography habit.
At my day job, I am an eLearning developer at Applied Educational Systems--taking an instructional designer's written content and making it come to life with different types of media and interactions, primairly in Articulate Storyline. Even after six years, it pushes my creativity every day. Before that, I spent six years in photographic equipment sales and photofinishing--a job that really sharpened my eye for color, and has certainly improved my photo editing process. During those years, I was so lucky to meet so many talented photographers who inspired me to push myself as an artist and begin my business.
In addition to photography, I contract on a number of graphic design related jobs, and also create designs for items at CafePress as Crafting Play Designs
Both in my career and my personal life, I'm passionate about the importance of art, creativity, and play in education. That interest led to me create my blog, CraftingPlay, which focuses on creativity and play for early childhood, as well as its significance in my personal growth and development as a mom and as an artist.
I love to learn about art and the craft arts. I'm constantly taking online courses to sharpen my photography and design skills. Recently I've been feeling a need to spend more time exercising my creativity by investigating new art mediums, including stained glass, fused glass, and hopefully wood burning.
I have a BA in Commercial Art from Millersville University. I love shiny objects, comphy hoodies, Yoga, Zumba, and time spent with family and friends.
